I am being generous giving this film a 5. The actors gave this film all 5 stars, the director gave it zero. The film aspect as a metaphor for the leads experience transposed onto the viewer dose not translate to the small screen. The audience should see in a theatre. The vastness of space 16:9 as opposed to the square smaller view ? Regardless didn't work.

I know I don't like a film when I keep predicting what will be said or done next; when I think that perhaps the director has a thing for the protagonist because there are so many long, drawn out camera shots of her; when I look at the clock a few times throughout the film, increasingly toward the end.
The reason I chose to see this film is because I found the premise behind it intriguing. But that's because I'm always attracted to anything psychological. The problem here is that often psychology doesn't translate into movie material. For at least the first hour or so of this one, I was thinking that it would turn out to be about an extramarital affair a woman has because she can't adjust to being back on earth after some mind-blowing experience in space.
What Lucy suffered from is comparable to the kind of PTSD that soldiers have coming home after experiencing war. Even if the experience causing the PTSD is interpreted more positively, as Lucy does, the essence of it in the psyche is the same: nothing in her "normal" life comes close to giving her the out-of-this-world (literally! feelings that being out in space did. So all she can think about is how to get it back. As she tries to accomplish this, she goes progressively more insane.
The gratuitous "3 years later" coda was pointless, other than the script needing to have an ending. It didn't add to the film, at least for me.
